The material we make our butterflies with is a specialty synthetic that is waterproof, tear proof, color fast and can withstand extreme temperature variations. The manufacturer of this material even has man-on-the-street challenges where they challenge people to tear the material and they can't do it. We make the beaded strands on nylon coated stainless steel cable so that they stand the test of time. We make a quality product intended to last for many years of enjoyment. So, go ahead and hang it outside and enjoy it. In the event that a bead, accent piece, or glass color becomes unavailable, we reserve the right to make a similar substitution.
